Cationic azo dyes are water-soluble dyes with positively charged molecules and containing azo chromophores (-N=N-). They are mainly used for dyeing negatively charged synthetic fibers such as acrylic fibers. Their positive charges can combine with the negative charges of fibers to achieve stable coloring, while the azo bonds determine the color tones, which are mainly warm colors like red, yellow and orange.
They have good wash fastness, making them suitable for daily clothing; however, their light fastness is moderate, so long-term exposure to sunlight should be avoided. With excellent solubility, they do not require additional dispersants during dyeing, and the dyeing process is simple. They can also be used for dyeing a small amount of acrylic blends and modified polyester fabrics.
