China is a global major producer of iron oxide pigments. The industry features large production scale, abundant segmented product categories and complete product grades, occupying an important position in the global market. In the first half of 2025, the industry maintained a strong development momentum: the output reached 365,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.70%; the sales volume hit 372,000 tons, a substantial year-on-year growth of 24.7%, significantly outpacing the output growth rate. This growth is mainly driven by the continuous demand from downstream industries such as coatings, building materials and plastics.
In terms of product structure, iron oxide red is the largest category, with an output of 238,500 tons in 2023, accounting for 40.49% of the total output; iron oxide yellow follows closely, accounting for 30.56%.
